>Release: NetBSD-1.6 current as of April 2003
>Organization:
none
>Environment:
SGI MIPS IP22, R4600
>Description:
While NetBSD's sysinit was trying to format the partitions, it
	tried to run /usr/mdec/sgivol -f -w /usr/mdec/boot boot /dev/sd0,
but showed an error saying something like:

	sgivol is 500000 bytes
	no space left

>How-To-Repeat:
This seems to only happen with used SGI Hard drives that
ran IRIX on them. According to the port-sgimips developer,
IRIX crams the boot partition with a lot of data, so there's
no room left for anything else.

>Fix:
From the sysinit installation menu, I went into the shell
	and ran this command:

	/usr/mdec/sgivol -d /dev/sd0

This cleared out the boot partition and the installation
	proceeded normally!
