% symbols in front of them in GAS now.

 This (and an additional problem that happens before these)
 still happens with gc-6.8 on NetBSD 3.0.

 Yes, fixing the registers is a start, but the undefined
 references are a bit more than I want to get into.

 Could we just mark this not for VAX in pkgsrc?

boehm-gc relies on libatomicops which is not ported to vax.
This is a third-party problem.
