I installed FreeBSD 4.9 release from a cd I prepared. The ISO image was fetched directly from ftp.freebsd.org and verified ok. When I restart the computer with option menu to select which one to boot, I pressed F1 and the system rebooted immediately. FreeBSD was installed on the first slice. My computer is HP D530 with 80G ST harddisk. Please help!

Ahem, you might want to report this to the FreeBSD folks, instead.

Erm what has this to do with netbsd?

If you are using netbsd's bootselect. note that it hace changed to use
the numeric keys to select partitions and the Fn keys to selects disks.
So F1 would read the bootcode from the first disk.
