I use the pkgsrc/net/bpalogin package. It seems to me that the bpalogin
rc.d script could be called more appropriately at a different point
in startup, ie just after dhclient but before DAEMONs as it is required
to be running in order to talk to the rest of the world. Hence my
suggested patch below. Currently, the bpalogin script is executed last.

Tested on NetBSD-1.6.2 (i386)

This is so long ago... and I haven't used bpalogin for a very long time
 now...

I believe that this would have fixed the problem.

State-Changed-Why:
feedback received... although it didn't answer the underlying question,
which was:

is the facility this package supported still in use, or should the package
just be removed?

You still haven't answered the question: whether this is still useful
for Telstra customers or is obsolete. A quick survey with Google
suggests the latter, but I can't find any hard information.

Definitely the latter. What's more, I announced the removal, twice,
 and no one spoke up.
