  >Description:
 Hello, folks.

Please hit me, when I've chosen the wrong way to ask questions of this kind,
 do you?

I've got a IBM RiscSystem 6000 from a friend and wanted to install NetBSD
on it. The box is a RS/6000 with MicroChannel Bus. Some sticker on the
box's back says it's type 7011, model 220. Therefore it should be an
RS/6000 7011-220, right? I haven't found anything about this box in the
kernel sources, so I guess it's not supported, but maybe you could tell
 me something different?

MCA is obviously not supported, but I think I don't need it either, the
only thing that seems to be connected to the bus is some token ring network
card and I don't have any token ring equipment here, so I don't care much.

Next problem is that I don't have access to the AIX installed at the
moment, because I have no login. The guy I got this box from doesn't
have one either. I made an image of the harddisk (SCSI, ~500 MB) via
dd(1) and grep(8)'ed the encrypted password out of it (rude, I know).
Fortunately it's 'only' DES-encrypted, so I should have a plain password
within some days (I'll simply put some PI-200 box into my kitchen and let
it guess the right password; I'm not home in March).

But even if I had: AFAIC see, NetBSD doesn't recognize AIX partition
tables and I guess it also doesn't know the filesystem (okay, I even
don't know which one AIX uses).

Is their any way to get a NetBSD on the disk with an NetBSD/i386 so that
the RS/6000 is able to boot from it?

prep bug.

State-Changed-By: garbled@netbsd.org
State-Changed-When: Fri, 24 Feb 2006 07:37:09 +0000
State-Changed-Why:
The 7011 model 220 is not a PReP architecture machine, and is therefore not
supported by port prep. Additionally, it is a sufficiently undocumented
architecture, that currently no NetBSD port exists that will run on it.

While it is unlikely that support for this machine will appear in the short
term, you are encouraged to ask about it and give any information you might
have to the mailing list netbsd-ports@netbsd.org

Thank you for your PR.
