>Description:
System:
Dell Inspiron 3000
Pentium 200mhz MMX CPU 200 MMX
64MB of RAM
4Gig drive

Tried version(s) of NetBSD:
NetBSD 2.0.2 to 1.5.3

The Dell Inspiron 3000 does not come with internal cd-rom/nic so
I had to rely on the NetBSD floppy disks for installation. the
floppy's were awesome, I was able to get into the setup screen and
everything. the laptop itself recognized and powered up the USB
nic(the lights lit up and my router accepted the new connection).
Here is the screwy part -- once the NetBSD kernel loads into memory
for setup it discovers and enables the USB device and even the nic
itself but then the nic is then disabled. NetBSD sets the device
name as uax0 and proceeds to setup. And with the device disabled
I was unable to do any network installations. Unfortunately, since
I have no CD-ROM and no network connectivity I had to bail on the
setup.

here is where I think the device itself is disabled:

uhci0 at pci0 dev 1 function 2: vendor 0x8086 product 0x7112 (rev. 0x01)
uhci0: interupting at irq 10
uhub0 at usb0
uhub0: vender 0x8086 UHCI root hub, class 9/0, rev 1.00/1.00, addr 1
uhub0: 2 ports with 2 removable, self-powered
vender: 0x8086 product (miscellaneous bridge, revision 0x01), at pci0 dev 1 (function 3 not configured)

right after that message pops up in dmesg the nic is disabled (lights turn off) and the kernel continues to load and install appears.

(replies: please attach me to any replies and/or fixes, I appreciate it thanks!)

>How-To-Repeat:
use floppy disk installation disks 1 (bootlap1.fs) and 2 (bootlap2.fs), and boot into install.

It would helpful if you could look for some "axe0 at uhub0" messages
 and show them.

Lennart Augustsson asked the problem report submitter for additional
lines from the kernel boot/autoconfiguration output; we're waiting on
that before we proceed with further work on this problem report.
