System: NetBSD forsaken 3.99.15 NetBSD 3.99.15 (GENERIC.MPACPI) #0: Fri Feb 17 19:33:11 GMT 2006 abs@tll.i:/files/netbsd/current/sys/arch/i386/compile/obj/GENERIC.MPACPI i386
Architecture: i386
Machine: i386
>Description:
While using X the system will randomly repeat keystrokes, sometimes
doubled, sometimes tripled. This happens a few times a day, but will
reasonably frequently happen twice within the same second.

The system is a thinkpad T41p using xorg from pkgsrc, and a 3.0
userland. Kernel tested was 3.0_STABLE with acpi (not MP) or 3.99.15
	MPACPI -current.

Problem does _not_ occur on a non ACPI kernel.

Yes, I see this on a thinkpad t43p using NetBSD 3.99.8 and ACPI, and X
 from xsrc.

The problem seems to be more frequent when they system is under load,
such as while starting applications. I'm not sure whether CPU or I/O is
the main factor here, but I suspect I/O.

It's considerably more frequent than a couple of times a day for me.

I see the same thing with -current, xorg 6.9.0, and *without* acpi. It
started about when I upgraded xorg to 6.9 from 6.8.

I have this nasty thought it could be a problem just made more
  	obvious by differing combinations.

So far we it looks like (ACPI | xorg)...

  		ACPI+xorg ACPI+xsrc !ACPI+xorg !ACPI+xsrc
  	abs Y - N -
  	gavan - Y - -
  	rpaulo Y - - -
  	smb - - Y -

Could some people seeing it try switching to/from ACPI kernels?
given that is a _lot_ easier than switching X & all apps.

 Hi,

I'm getting the same problem. Im using 3.99.15 and am running xorg-6.9.0nb3.
I'm not using an ACPI kernel, i'm running GENERIC with apm and vesafb
 enabled.

I am also using a wireless usb keyboard. I see keys repeating and keypresses
being ignored and it allways happens sooner or later (usually sooner). I also
see this behaviour at the console but it would seem (though i can't confirm)
that it only happens after it has happened in X.

I no longer have access to this hardware, and am not seeing this on
 newer ThinkPads under amd64...
