>Description:
Hi All,
Is there an installation/floppies directory available ?
according to the manual the "boot" floppies are supposed to be in .../installation/floppies/boot.fs ?
but there isn't any.
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-3.0/atari/installation/

...and it also isn't on the ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/3.0/ataricd-3.0.iso CD image file which i recently created.
Is there a workaround, or doc error here ?

thanks,

Rick.

Because of a problem creating the boot floppy images, these aren't provided
at the moment. It's a bug that the documentation still mentions them. The
workaround is to unpack and copy the BOOT or BOOTX kernel from the
binary/kernels directory to a floppy, along with loadbsd.ttp from the
installation/misc directory. The other utilities are also in the
installation/misc directory.

Hi,

I guess that my reply didn't arrive, so I'm sending it directly this time:

He just recently got Internet, and i'll be bringing him the NetBSD 3 CD's I burnt for him, unless he's burnt them already.?

anyway, the ways it sounds in your instructions below, is that instead of "booting" directly from the floppy, the kernel,... is loaded (via loadbsd.ttp) into memory and the sysinst is started from that ?

I've now got NetBSD 3.0 to boot on my Atari TT030, but when using the
miniroot.fs and trying to select the disk it says....

"
The installation program needs to know which disk to consider
the root disk. Note the unit number may be different than
the unit number you used in the standalone installation program.

Available disks are:

sort: not found

Which disk is the root disk ?
"

Now, obviously the "sort" program needs to be put onto the miniroot.fs,
as this also happens with NetBSD 2.1 for atari too.

Can someone fix the miniroot.fs ??

Alan.

Yes. You should also be able to copy the TOS binaries, kernel and fs images
to a folder on the hard disk and use them from there. That might be easier
if you have them on CD.

Yes. It should do.

Feedback timeout and PR was about 3.x. If anyone sees this problem
again, write in or open a new PR, but as I recall it got fixed
during the netbsd-5 release cycle.
