>Environment:
System: NetBSD adder.home.loc 3.0_STABLE NetBSD 3.0_STABLE (GENERIC) hp300
Architecture: m68k
Machine: hp300
>Description:

When the machine PROM (v3.0, April 1991) loads SYS_UBOOT, either
via network (rbootd) or from the local hard disk, it immediately
messes up the local console display, so that nothing is readable
any more. Only weird characters are shown at seemingly random
locations, and completely inverted (white) lines are shown at
locations where (presumably) the boot messages are displayed.

This happens on a HP 9000 425s with CatsEye HiRes framebuffer.

I cannot test with other machines or framebuffers at the moment.

This problem also appears with the SYS_UBOOT from the 3.0 release.

The SYS_UBOOT from the 2.1 release works fine, and can also load
the 3.0 kernel without a problem.

>How-To-Repeat:
Have the PROM on a 400 series HP9000 with hires framebuffer load
and start SYS_UBOOT.

>Fix:
Workaround: Use the SYS_UBOOT from the 2.1 release.

Apparently I was confused about which SYS_UBOOT version I was
actually using. It seems now that the version in 3.0_STABLE works
fine, in a snapshot built from sources from 2006-05-12.

I can only reproduce the problem with the SYS_UBOOT from the 3.0
 release.
