>Description:
I have installed netbsd-current on hpcarm (jornada 720). It works
fine with an old CF card (256M). When I try to use a Kingston CF
2GB Elite Pro card it works ok for a moment, and then the system
freezes. There is no debug info, no errors in log files. The system
is frozen dead.
It happens as well on 3.0 release. I have tried three different
cards. Problems only occur when using the 2gb kingston (i have
tried 2 of them). The cards are fine and work well in jornada
690(netbsd-hpcsh).
The system works for max. 5 minutes. After a reboot the system
hangs on fsck and i have to fsck the card in another system.
What might be the problem and how to solve it ?
Thank you for your help :)
>How-To-Repeat:
The simplest way is to try to pkg_add perl... or mc (or
any other package bigger than 500kb) or to try to ssh to
jornada. SOmetimes the system freezes after ps -aux or ls
-l .

Does 5.0 work better? Also, it would be helpful to see the device probe
lines from dmesg.

Feedback bounced. Anyone have a Jornada 720 and/or a similar CF card to
see if this problem still exists?

I have an ultron 2 GB card that showed the same phenomenon when I tried
to install netbsd-4; I ended up replacing it with a sandisk card.
When I just tried to boot a -current kernel off the ultron, it died
early. Bootlog is at
<http://www.spg.tu-darmstadt.de/~hf/netbsd/pr33779/hpcarm.puc6.console.gz>.

Hrm. Well, I guess it still exists. That behavior doesn't make any
sense to me, but I guess it's an MD issue...
Can I add you to the reply list of the PR?

Might be unrelated to the PR'ed issue, though. I'll try the kernel on the
sandisk card on Monday.

Sure, go ahead.

It does the same when booting the kernel from a known-good sandisk card, so
-current does not work on hpcarm right now. I'll try netbsd-5 next.
