>Description:
I am really impressed by NetBSD, as a student who wants to dive into Unix. However, since I suffer the similar boot problem(ACPI autoload failed, no such file or directory. BTX halted.) with PCBSD, DestopBSD before, this time I try your Live CD before I jump to the installation. The Live CD works fully well. When it boots, no matter which mode I choose, Generic or Laptop, either works fine. So I think finally I found a BSD derivative I can try on my laptop. In case that any problem stands in the way, I read your documentation carefully. Then I down the NetBSD 3.1 iso for i386(Note that although my laptop is amd64, I choose i386 version so that I can use more general packages, you know), burn it to a CD and then boot. However, it doesn't work, it just keeps rebooting. I try many times but always fail. Then I turn to the 3.1 for amd64, the same problem. And then 4.4RC1 for both i386 and amd64, this time, it doesn't keep rebooting any more, it puts a strange number(4136052) on t
he screen and then halted. I just wonder why the Live CD works totally well but the Installer CD fails all the time. What is the difference between the Installer CD and the Live CD? Can I get the Live CD version to install on my laptop. I don't mean install NetBSD from the Live CD. I mean if you can change the Live CD version to an Installer CD version and distribute it then I can down it and install it as others do with the Installer CD version. Thank you in advance.
