>Description:
I first tried the NB-4_rc4 iso image which crashes after identifying the hdd as ixpide. I have the hp nx6125 - amd thurion64. On all occasions the generic kernel is loaded. NB3.1 has none of these problems. I have other problems with 3.1. I then booted up with 3.1 cd and tried a upgrade via ftp for 4_rc4.4 as well as 4_rc3 and both 4 releases are unable to boot after configuration.with the error "ixpide 0:0: 0. lost interrupt" this required another format to my machine because 3.1 was unable to recover and fix itself up. The machine kept on writing crash dumps but i was unable to keep the system up.
>How-To-Repeat:
Either boot or ftp crash the machine with the same error i.e.ixpide 0:0: 0. lost interrupt. I am almost sure my hdd should be identified atiide.

Why? Such driver does not exist. The driver for ATI IDE controller is
 called ixpide.

can you try disabling ACPI? can be done with the following commands on
 boot:

 boot -c
 disable acpi
 exit

Can you please try booting a kernel w/o MULTIPROCESSOR and ioapic?
Does this problem exist with i386's GENERIC_MP as well?
