NetBSD netbsd 4.0_RC5 NetBSD 4.0_RC5 (GENERIC_LAPTOP) #0: Sat Dec 15 18:30:38 BRST 2007 paulo@netbsd:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC_LAPTOP i386

>Description:
I've found that I can get my WPA wireless link down under NetBSD 4.0_RC5 by pointing my web browser to some well-defined websites. One of the most notable is Wikipedia. However, I can some relatively networking-heavy stuff normally, like updating pkgsrc via CVS and downloading packages.

I've tried to use two different wireless cards with my Acer TravelMate 4062 WLMi laptop. One of them is an Intel 2200BG mini-PCI card that came with the laptop, and is supported by iwi(4). The another one is an EDIMAX EW-7318USg USB card that is supported by rum(4).

My station is a D-Link DI-524 access point plugged to an ordinary ADSL connection. Firmware Version: V2.03, Fri, Dec 09 2005.

Note: the same laptop with the same wireless cards and with the same station works just fine under Linux.

When I connect to it and point Firefox to e.g. en.wikipedia.org, the problem is triggered, and I get the following output from wpa_supplicant:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys
ioctl[SIOCS80211, op 20, len 7]: Can't assign requested address
Trying to associate with MY BSSID (SSID='myessid' freq=2462 MHz)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing is shown at dmesg.

I can even connect again to my station after that, but things get very unstable and the connection go down after about 40 seconds (the same message is shown at wpa_supplicant) even without triggering the problem again.

Even if I trig the problem when connected via the USB card, then unplug it, and try to use the Intel card, I get the same instability. The connection go down after some seconds even without triggering the problem again.

The only way to get WPA working again is to reboot the computer.

>How-To-Repeat:
1) Setup a D-Link DI-524 station for using WPA PSK TKIP.
2) Connect to it using a NetBSD box with an Intel 2200BG mini-PCI card or with an EDIMAX EW-7318USg USB card.
3) Point your web browser to en.wikipedia.org.

4) Now your wireless link is down.

Try to do everything you want. You can even connect again, but the connection will go down after about 40 seconds, even if you don't trig the problem again.

Even switching the wireless card you are using (e.g. unplugging the EDIMAX from USB and now using the Intel card) will have no effect. The connection will go down after about 40 seconds, even using a card in which the problem was never been triggered.

5) The only way to get WPA working again is to reboot the computer.
