>Description:
Hardware: DEC Alpha 1000a

OS: NetBSD 4.0

Problem: Installing VIA VT6421A SATA controller (Producer: Wintech) breaks booting into NetBSD 4.0. Getting "db>" kernel debugger prompt.

Stacktrace or output of kernel debugger on request.

Hope i can help to run NetBSD even on alpha hardware :-)

 Cheers,
 Peter
>How-To-Repeat:
Install given above hardware into another DEC alpha 1000a (i've tried PCI slot 1 and 4) and try to boot...

There have been a number of viaide fixes since 4.0-RELEASE; can you
try a 4.0_STABLE or current snapshot? (Current is essentially 5.0 beta
right now, btw, so it's a reasonable choice.)

If that doesn't help, since none of us have the hardware we'll need at
 least the stack trace.

Looks the same problem as PR/40697 (which has been fixed recently):

It does indeed. Let's treat this as a duplicate of 40697.

(to the submitter: if that doesn't fix it, let us know and we'll reopen this.)
