On Dell Lattitude CPxJ the VESA console blanks after a short period of inactivity and does not unblank.

The screen is completely blank and non-lit.

It is possible to unblank by activating the system bios.

It is possible to type commands while the screen is blank.

Typing while the screen is not blank seems to prevent blanking.
