System: NetBSD 5.99.14
Architecture: i386

Hardware: FSC SCENIC L PIII 866MHz, 256MB RAM detected, 20GB wd0. i815 chipset.

>Description:

I've came across various erratic behaviour with said installation ISO image:

- when running /bin/sh from sysinst's utility menu, the erase character
is incorrectly set to ^H instead of ^? which is what the <-- key produces.

- after exiting from the installer from the main menu, init first complains
about not being able to update the utmpx file.

- after exting from the installer from the main menu, init complains
"Can't exec getty '/usr/libexec/getty' for port '/dev/console': No such file or directory"
and the system "hangs" there unresponsive to keyboard input.
  Entering DDB is possible, however.

- rebooting from DDB hangs after unmounting /tmp and /dev and the message
  "sd0: detached"
>How-To-Repeat:

Boot said installation ISO image on a machine with an IDE harddisk and
a USB stick connected (showing up as wd0 and sd0 respectively).
In sysinst select "Utility Menu" and "Run /bin/sh".
Enter some characters and then press the <-- key.
Exit from the shell.
Return to sysinst's main menu from the utility menu.
Select 'x' to exit from the install system.
Note init complaining about not being able to update utmpx and to exec getty.
Press CTL-ALT-ESC to enter DDB
Type "reboot" and hit enter.
Watch the system hang after printing "sd0: detached".

>Fix:

Mount /var on tmpfs and put /usr/libexec/getty on the ISO image.
I have no fix for the others.
