After installation of NetBSD-5.0.2, I see unexpected high interrupt load:

I recompiled a GENERIC kernel without azalia => still high interrupt load. Then I recompiled GENERIC without ohci => stuck during boot.

I have similar boot problems when I try a untouched GENERIC kernel and tries to disable audio and USB support in BIOS. Since I have seen reports with problems that disappeared when disabling SMP. My problem does not disappear when booting with boot -1.

Please let me know what other information you might need and what more I can test.

For me the problem disappears when running with a NetBSD -current =
kernel. Maybe the problem was corrected by the newer version of the ACPI =
 code?

Unfortunately with the -current kernel and the 5.0_STABLE userland, I =
occasionally see random programs terminate with "Exit code 255". This =
frequently happens with rsync when synchronizing a large directory tree =
 between two filesystem.

I just tried -current and the problem remains.

Can you try to load "fail-safe defaults" in your bios ?

Does the problem go away if you disable ACPI? (It probably will, but
doing so may e.g. limit you to one CPU, so it's not much of a fix.)

I did and the interrupt load disappeared. I have tested with 5.0.2 and
-current. Both works much better now.

It was the option: "USB mouse support" in the BIOS, that when enabled
resulted in high interrupt load. It seems that 'shutdown -p now' also
works. Earlier it just stopped after the message: "acpi0: entering state 5".
