System: NetBSD Tadpole-Anna.Rodents-Montreal.ORG 4.0.1 NetBSD 4.0.1 (TADPOLE3GX) #6: Tue Apr 27 19:41:05 EDT 2010 mouse@Tadpole-3GX.Rodents-Montreal.ORG:/home/mouse/kbuild/TADPOLE3GX sparc
Architecture: sparc
Machine: sparc
>Description:
As part of trying to do the first install on a new drive, I had
occasion to partition a disk with nontrivial partition overlap.
The installer notices this, which is a good thing, but does not
have any option for "yes, I know, it's deliberate, just shut up
and leave it that way", which is a bad thing. (See the
port-sparc thread mentioned below for more.)

For my own use, I just built a version of sysinst in which
boringpart() always returns 1 (which effectively disables the
partition overlap code). This is probably not a good fix for
general NetBSD use, though, which is why I'm not including it
here; in the port-sparc thread mentioned below, Martin Husemann
said something about fixing it (presumably in a way more
appropriate for general use than my ugly hack).
>How-To-Repeat:
Partition a disk with nontrivial partition overlap and try to
install on it with the "use existing partition layout" option.
See the port-sparc thread mentioned below for the details of my
	particular case.
>Fix:
Presumably, give the "whoa, partitions overlap!" case a "yes, I
know, that's my own lookout" option.

The port-sparc thread mentioned above begins with my message
