Architecture: sparc64

>Description:
When netbooting a sparc64 netbsd-6 kernel, after the kernel loads, it's unable
to acquire an address via DHCP to load the NFS root. DHCP is configured, and
no packets are seen by the DHCP server. Other parties have indicated similar
failures in that bge interfaces, when netbooting, will not function to send or
recieve packets once the kernel loads. Reportedly, the bge interfaces on
sparc64 hosts work correctly when not net-booting.
>How-To-Repeat:
Net-boot a sparc64 with a bge interface. Once the kernel loads, it will be
unable to acquire an address or mount an available filesystem,

For the record, I can reproduce the problem on a SB2500 with:

 bge0 at pci0 dev 3 function 0: Broadcom BCM5703 Gigabit Ethernet
 bge0: interrupting at ivec 371c
 bge0: ASIC BCM5702/5703 A2 (0x1002), Ethernet address 00:03:ba:cd:9f:f1
 brgphy0 at bge0 phy 1: BCM5703 1000BASE-T media interface, rev. 2
 brgphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, 1000baseT, 1000baseT-FDX, auto

but not on a v210 with:

 bge0 at pci0 dev 2 function 0: Broadcom BCM5704C Dual Gigabit Ethernet
 bge0: interrupting at ivec 37c8
 bge0: ASIC BCM5704 A3 (0x2003), Ethernet address 00:03:ba:45:d5:ed
 brgphy0 at bge0 phy 1: BCM5704 1000BASE-T media interface, rev. 0
 brgphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, 1000baseT, 1000baseT-FDX, auto

Could you check with your box?

 Hi,

There is also another bug that manifests in making the devices that the PROM
used to boot unusable. This affects things like the USB keyboard port for
graphical consoles, and the network interface used for net-booting. If bge1
works when net-booting from bge0 (and vice versa), that is a symptom of that
 problem.

 Thanks,

 J

let's leave this one in feedback. it was a big problem for heaps of
systems and i won't be testing until it cools off some more.

my ultra45 now can netboot from the bge0 it never used to be able to
use afterwards. it would be nice if someone else confirmed as well,
say, from a sunblade 2500 or similar.
