 pkgsrc.pdf is always keeping up-to-date.

 Questioned point is probably
   (2007/09/18)
 in the title page.

 It probably came from <pubdate> in pkgsrc/doc/guide/files/pkgsrc.xml,
 not reflect whole document updated date, just commit date of the file.
 <pubdate> should be "make regen" date.

 So was it fixed so that subsequent commits would update the date in
 the generated pdf?

Issue seems to be resolved & the date on the pdf is being updated

The date of the published pdf is not updated when make regen is run.
Indeed, the date is obtained from <pubdate> in pkgsrc/doc/guide/files/pkgsrc.xml
This is not an issue for the txt & html versions of the guide which indicate the correct information.

If manual cranking is needed, it should be indicated, but if that's the case it may be better to do without perhaps

 It's not supposed to be; like the date on a man page, it's supposed to
 be the date of the last (substantive) change, not the (arbitrary)
 build time.

 I think that means they're wrong.
