I imagined -Wl.no-as-needed is the "safer" option.
Is your linker/compiler returning an error because it's an unknown
option?
Perhaps something like BUILDLINK_TRANSFORM+= rm:-ldl can be used to
handle these?
Removing this flag by a patch sounds like a bad idea for all other
users.
