>Organization:

NetBSD sawtooth.technoskunk.fur 7.99.26 NetBSD 7.99.26 (GENERIC) #0: Wed Feb 10 14:14:42 CST 2016 sysop@verthandi.technoskunk.fur:/d0/build/current/obj/macppc/sys/arch/macppc/compile/GENERIC macppc
Darwin ed.technoskunk.fur 8.11.0 Darwin Kernel Version 8.11.0: Wed Oct 10 18:26:00 PDT 2007; root:xnu-792.24.17~1/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh powerpc
>Description:
multimedia/libvpx no-longer configures properly for powerpc targets.
Comparing libvpx 1.5 (pkgsrc-2015Q4, -HEAD) and libvpx 1.4
(pkgsrc-2015Q3) shows that all configuration support for powerpc
(and Darwin Universal Binary) targets has been removed.
Such targets default to "generic-gnu". Although it will build and
install, problems come later when a dependent package claims not to
find a "libvpx" of sufficient version.
>How-To-Repeat:
Build any package which depends on "multimedia/libvpx" from pkgsrc-2015Q4
or -HEAD on a powerpc target platform.
>Fix:
Ideally, an upstream bug report.
In the interim, I've transplanted the powerpc configuration from
the libvpx-1.4 distribution to the libvpx-1.5 configure scripts.
Patches to be included in followup email.

The following patches were derived from partial diffs between the
respective files in libvpx 1.4 and 1.5. As such, I've kept them
in my ${LOCALPATCHES}/multimedia/libvpx directory and should be
applied similarly.

With the update to libvpx-1.6.0,
${LOCALPATCHES}/multimedia/libvpx/patch-configure
fails to apply during the patch phase. It succeeds when applied manually
with some fuzz warnings and offset notifications.
See below patches regenerated for libvpx-1.6.0. (Only build-tested on
amd64 for now--will check runtime on non-powerpc first and then powerpc
eventually.)

As of libvpx-1.6.1 in pkgsrc-HEAD as of 13 March 2017, the previous
"patch-configure" does not apply cleanly in 'make patch'. It will
apply manually with offset and fuzz warnings.
Below is a new "patch-configure" generated for libvpx-1.6.1:

Subject: Re: pkg/50814: libvpx 1.5 dropped powerpc configuration

As of this commit:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/pkgsrc-changes/2017/06/28/msg159245.html
PowerPC is once again recognized as a target architecture, at least for
NetBSD/macppc (other NetBSD/powerpc?).
I don't think it goes so far as to restore PowerPC MacOS X as a target
OS, however. Portions of the patches previously posted in this PR should
do that, if desired.
