I installed emacs-24.5 through pkgin from main NetBSD ftp server. I try to run it from both the terminal and xterm and it immediately core dumps with a memory fault. I'm running NetBSD on VMWare Player 6.0.7 on Windows 7 with 1 GB of virtual RAM.
>How-To-Repeat:
Take a Windows 7 PC. Install VMWare Player 6.0.7. Install NetBSD 7.0 i386 into virtual machine. Setup pkgin to download from ftp.netbsd.org. Install emacs-24.5. Run "emacs" and see Memory Fault/Core Dump happen.

This is a known bug of Emacs when build on either a 64bit host or Xen.
Since the top 1GB of the address space is no longer reserved, things get
loaded at those positions, but after the coredumping / unexec procedure,
a startup on "real" non-Xen i386 no longer works since those areas are
no reserved. No fix is currently known.

I fixed it by building emacs through pkg_src on my local VMWare instance.

State-Changed-Why:
We eventually figured out what was causing this (it was an incompatibility
between emacs and some startup code in libc) and recent emacs packages no
longer have this problem.
