On installing kde-workspace4, KDM is installed but no kdm user added (unlike kdebase3's kdm), so using the example rc.d kdm script and adding kdm=YES to rc.conf will fail on reboot due to the missing kdm user.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install kde-workspace4 (or meta-pkg/kde4), copy the examples/rc.d/kdm to /etc/rc.d/kdm and add "kdm=YES" to /etc/rc.conf, reboot. The starting of KDM fails due to the missing kdm user.

 kdebase3 doesn't have or use a kdm user.  I somehow missed its 
 appearance in kde-workspace for the last 5 years but added now.
