On a 1.3Ghz 12" PowerBook (PowerBook6,4) with OpenFirmware version 4.8.3f1, issuing dir cd:, reports:

<DIR> 00-00-1900 00:00:00 . SP ER CE
<DIR> 00-00-1900 00:00:00 ..
<DIR> 12-03-2016 12:25:10 MACPPC PX TF NM

89382 12-03-2016 12:26:57 OFWBOOT.XCF;1 PX TF NM

the filenames contain a ;1 suffix which causes fallout when following documentation as traditionally, the loader has been called ofwboot.xcf (upper or lower case) and not ofwboot.xcf;1
causing lots of wasted time wondering why boot cd:,OFWBOOT.XCF is not working.

The bootable CD ROM doc indicates that the ;1 should not be there.

Which needs to be corrected, the documentation or the iso?
>How-To-Repeat:
burn NetBSD-7.99.43-macppc.iso to CD & issue dir cd:, in openfirmware
Try to boot from said CD using boot cd:,OFWBOOT.XCF (or in lowercase)

Do release ISOs (such as NetBSD-7.0.2-macppc.iso) work as expected?

macppc ISOs from non-release snapshots are not expected to be bootable,
because makefs isn't up to the task of creating a bootable image. We
work around this for releases by manually generating macppc images. It
sucks and could be automated on the build cluster, but it's a really low
priority issue for me, so I haven't done so. Besides, that would still
leave macppc ISOs broken for people building locally.

IIRC, what's missing in makefs is the ability to create hybrid
 HFS/ISO9660 images. tsutsui@ knows more.
