 I'm not able to reproduce this on my Mac running the 10.14 developer =
 preview.

 Neither am I, but I said Safari, not some beta.

 Yes, you said "Safari", which is the name of Apple's web browser. It =
 exists on quite a number of MacOS X / OS X / macOS releases going back =
 quite some ways, including macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) as well as macOS =
 10.14 (Mojave, which, as you say, is still in beta).

 As I said, I am unable to reproduce this on the macOS 10.14 preview, and =
 I just double-checked one of my other Macs running 10.13.6, and I can't =
 reproduce it there, either.

 I suggest you check to see if you've set the User Agent setting in the =
 Safari "Develop" menu to something other than the default (although I =
 just tried setting it to present as the iPhone user agent and the page =
 loaded as before, so *shrug*).

 I asked a friend who uses MacOS 10.12.6 (so an older version) and
 he said that with that, the page rendered by Safari looks just like it
 does when viewed with Firefox.

 I'd assume some local configuration problem.

 I am responsible for this. This is the rule I use, in global.css:

 @media only screen and (max-device-width: 800px),
        only screen and (min-resolution: 2dppx) and (max-width: 800px),
        only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2) and (max-width: 800px) {

 I added "and (max-device-width: 800px)" because my 2011 phone isn't HiDPI,
 but I can remove this or tweak it so it doesn't apply for more users.

 The selection is done like this in the css:

 /* mobile overrides:
  * narrow monitor (attempting to match non-hidpi phones)
  * or hidpi and 800px width
  * or webkit and hidpi and 800px width */
 @media only screen and (max-device-width: 800px),
        only screen and (min-resolution: 2dppx) and (max-width: 800px),
        only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2) and (max-width: 800px
 ) {

 Does any of that apply to your device, or your Safari not evaluate
 some of that properly?

 Module Name:	htdocs
 Committed By:	maya
 Date:		Mon Apr 13 19:26:46 UTC 2020

 Modified Files:
 	htdocs: global.css

 Log Message:
 Stop matching non-HiDPI low width as favouring a mobile setup.

 This caused some complaints because several people use narrow browser
 windows, and my non-hidpi phone has kicked the bucket.
