Maybe it is only me, but I can't parse that from the PR. Can you explain
in more details what it is about?

NetBSD/prep 4.0 is the last version that boots in qemu. I suspect a
regression in the kernel/port. I might be wrong, and this could be a
problem in the emulator, but still it is prep specific.

A first step to make the PR contain usefull information (instead of a pretty
much useless patch to the emulator's test suite) would be to state how a
newer version fails booting on qemu.

The patch for qemu is the reproducer of how it was checked (and reported
in that thread).
This report does not contain investigation. I've stored it here to keep
track of it in gnats.

This PR is for awareness that Qemu upstream picked 4.0 because they
couldn't get any newer version to work.
If somebody could step in and fix it, and help upstream to upgrade to an
alive version of NetBSD, it is welcome.

It would be better to have more specific info (i.e. what doesn't work).
- Which model the qemu emulates (maybe 40P 6015?)
- netbsd-8 works on it? (even with some bugs?)
https://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-prep/2018/08/28/msg000137.html
- There are several dmesg of 7248 on newer version than 4.0
https://dmesgd.nycbug.org/index.cgi?do=view&id=2582
https://dmesgd.nycbug.org/index.cgi?do=view&id=3228
- I also had dmesg of 5.0 of 6070 (Power Series 850)
