System: NetBSD laplace 1.3.1 NetBSD 1.3.1 (LAPLACE) #3: Thu May 7 15:42:23 CEST 1998 ignatios@sinus:/usr/obj/kernel/LAPLACE i386

Hardware: old 486 (Toshiba?) laptop.

>Description:
On the first access after autoconfiguration (normally the ttyflags
call in rc), the machine hangs, with the IC-BUSY LED is lighted.

The same machine, same kernel, works fine with a NOKIA GSM interface card.
The same modem card worked fine with a NetBSD-1.2 + JTK-PCMCIA installation.
The same modem card still works fine with W95 on a modern AcerLight notebook.

This is dmesg, if booting machine with a 3c589D inserted.

 Addition:

I tried a netbsd-1.4 generic on the same machine.

 The NOKIA card still works.
The LASAT card hangs the process accessing it, after telling me a few:

 com3: com_iflush timeout ff

I see "stray irq 9 interupts" with both cards.

good question. I'll test it when I next get that machine into my hands.

 Ignatios,
It has been nearly a year and a half - do you believe you are
going to get to test this configuration again sometime soon? Or
should we close this PR? Or mark it "dead"?

 	a curious GNATS DB admin,

I can get the modem card and the laptop --- sometimes. It is a bit
difficult to schedule it in a way that I have half a day for testing
 this issue additionally....

Keep it assigned to me, I'll handle it eventually. It's not like
I've vanished or the hardware has been destroyed.
