It would be nice if possible to add a -V (verbose) option to the newfs* command that don't already have one.  I think these don't:
     newfs_lfs newfs_msdos newfs_sysvbfs  newfs_udf 

and these  do:
     newfs newfs_extfs newfs_v7fs

I was trying to format some large usb flash drives and it would have been useful to see some kind of progress meter.
