 cgd and Theo say that links in /dev are a Bad Thing, and so are duplicate
 files for the same device.  They also suggest renaming /dev/ser0 and 1
 to /dev/tty00 and /dev/tty01 so that these show up properly in "w"
 outputs and so on.
