>Description:
During startup, the LVDS display works fine until about the time
the startup messages reach "i915drmkms0". I currently also have the VGA output connected to an external monitor. At this time, the external
monitor console display switches to a higher resolution and the
LVDS goes blank. I can start X on the external monitor but only at
low resolutions. I can't get the LVDS monitor to work after bootup.

External monitor display still gets very trashed running twm. Also,
there is an offset to the window locations. When I move a widow to
the far right of the screen, it yanks back to about half of the
distance it should have moved.

If the previous changes didn't fix it, this probably won't either, but
just in case -- could you try once more from HEAD after this commit?

This change doesn't appear to improve the eeepc LVDS display on
i386 i915drmkms any, however it did appear to fix the problem with
amd64/radeondrmkms xdm crashing I posted earlier.

The LVDS display goes black when the switch to gfx console occurs.
If you can get xrandr output, you can presumably get dmesg output too.
Can you apply the attached patch, and send me the dmesg output?

I cleaned src and xsrc, did a cvs up on both, applied the patch
and rebuilt the entire distribution.
The LVDS screen still goes blank, however a bright horizontal line
appears across the display for an instant accompanied by an audible
pop, both of which are new.

Yeah! The LVDS console is active with this one! With no external
monitor connected, the console works great. With the external
monitor, the graphical display is following the external monitor
as only about the top half of the display is diplayed and is offset
to the right about an inch. There are still some leftover trash
lines under X such as when windows are resized but the having the
LVDS display working again is great! Thanks!
