(NetBSD/sparc 1.5.2)
>Description:
I'm trying to boot 1.5.2 on a Sparcstation 5 from an Emulex-style
8mm tape drive. I dd'ed tapefile1 and tapefile2 and then the
.tgz sets onto the (non-rewinding) tape dev and rewound and
tried to boot with "boot tape".
It is going for a while, printing nothing and then prints
OBP version 3, revision 2.15 (plugin rev 2)
Watchdog Reset, Rebooting.
Resetting..."
at which point it resets the machine.
I've tried it now with several tapes (in case one was broken)
and it's always the same behaviour.

State-Changed-Why:
Is this problem still current? On the one hand, it's an obscure port issue,
which makes it likely that it is; on the other hand, it's *very *old...

I just tried to reproduce this in emulation - the closest I was able
to get up and running was an emulated SPARCStation 2 in TME with OBP
2.9, and there I was successfully able to boot a 1.5.2 tapeboot1 +
tapeboot2 + miniroot.fs (I stopped there and didn't go through a full
installation).
I don't think TME supports the SPARCStation 5 - Qemu does, but AFAIK
doesn't emulate tape drives so I'm not sure if this can easily be
tested there.
TME crashes if I swap out the OBP 2.9 ROM with a 2.15 ROM from Qemu -
not sure how specific this is to the machine and if it crashes because
it's now "running on a SS 2".
I might play around a *bit* more with this over the next few days.
But off-list, Matthias told me that he no longer has access to the
machine so I have my doubts if this even can be reproduced anymore
these days...
