State-Changed-Why:
The error messages are no longer available on website.
I asked originator to try again since the package now
has more portability patches.

 Jeremey:

I no longer maintain any sparc's, but I can't imagine that such
appropriate patches have not yet been applied. That typescript file
has long since bit the dust. I'm CC'ing Cr4zi3 from #NetBSD @ EFNet.
He has agreed to test it and report back.

This boxes are 1.6.x and 1.5.x branch. We might ask some port-sparc@
members to test on the -current branch.

 Thanks for your PR-cleanup initiative.

This built fine for me on -current/sparc64, if that's any help.

This is exactly where it was failing for me, IIRC. Thank you for the
 output.

Crazie: Please do send the output of script(1) from a sparc64 box.

 Also:

*) When you do that, include pkgsrc/textproc/jade/work/jade-Xvers/
 config.log also
*) Can we have the config.log from the sparc build
*) What exactly is the "uname -a" output of this box ... incase this
turns out to be a toolchain related problem?

Gentlemen -- I'm looking into this tonight -- however, two things are
 for certain on this matter:

 1) We should find someone with a -current sparc and ask them to test
 this
 2) At some point, this worked AND/OR someone found and fixed this
problem, and forgot to commit thier fixes to the package -- how do we
know this? binary packages for 1.5/sparc and 1.6/sparc exist on the FTP
 site.
 ....
I may have to dig out a sparc tonight

Use a snapshot install. Setup tftp/bootp/rarpd/nfs for the miniroot
installer. I was in the process of doing so on my IPC last night.

Once I recover from Thanksgiving, I'll resume the beatings on this!

It's definately a toolchain problem related to the Vector:: library!
 (w-t-f that is, i'm not a C++ troll...but I'm sure we'll find out soon
 enough)

CC'ing gnats-bugs@ to make sure this get's documented:

The problem persists on on port-sparc w/ -current install (snapshot from
the 22nd). That eliminates a toolchain problem, so maybe it's a libc or
#includes related problem (aka, difference) between sparc and i386
 userland.

I guess I'll have to compare an i386 and sparc build logs and start
 comparing object files for symbols.

I'm sorry; I can no longer assist. I haven't had a sparcstation in a few
years. If it builds on -current or netbsd-5, I vote for closure. ~BAS

wow! Maybe Update the title to reflect:

   "pkgsrc: jade-1.2.1 on sparc/1.5.3_RC1 -> netbsd-5 build fails" ?

I haven't fired up a sparctstation in years, but I know that the SBUS

Given that you get both when you install netbsd-doc-print I've always
assumed not, but I don't actually know...
