>Description:
The OS finds the scanner.
dmesg repports:
"
ss0 at scsibus0 target 3 lun 0: <Nikon, COOLSCANIII, 1.31> SCSI2 6/scanner removable
"
running "sane-find-scanner" gives the output:
"No SCSI scanner found"...
then:
"
Jul 4 10:41:06 duron /netbsd: ss0(trm0:0:3:0): Check Condition on CDB: 0x00 00 00 00 00 00
Jul 4 10:41:06 duron /netbsd: SENSE KEY: Not Ready
Jul 4 10:41:06 duron /netbsd: ASC/ASCQ: Medium Not Present
"
doing a " cat /dev/ss0" or "scanimage -L" gives the simular results.
The scsi adapter used is:
"
trm0 at pci0 dev 11 function 0: Tekram DC395U, DC315/U (TRM-S1040) Fast20 Ultra SCSI Adapter
"
I have also tried with a Adaptec 19160 adapter with same result.
The stuff runned without any problem on a Freebsd box.
For me this bug is not a big problem if there are nothing to be done about the bug I will just put the scsi adapter and scanner back to the freebsd box.
Best regards /Ole

Please try this and report if it helps:
Remove "ss* at scsi?" from your kernel configuration and make sure there
also is a "uk* at scsi?". Then build a new kernel and try again.

Hi
It helped!
I had to change the configuration file for sane-coolscan from
/dev/scanner to /dev/uk0
then it worked
Thanks!
Would it not be possible to rewrite the ss driver so that it act as the
uk driver in cases like this one ?
Best Regards /Ole
Ps
FYI
I have also a HP flatbed scanner, it was found as a uk device from the
beginning, but it works after changing the sane-hp configuration file,
the id is:
"HP 2520A 3503"
