there are two serial chips on the u60, a com(4) which connects to
the keyboard and mouse and a sab(4) that corresponds to the db25s
on the back. you want to use the correct devices for the sab ports,
ttyh*

Argh! Thanks. Would it be sensible to rename these? Maybe C00 -> kbd and
C01 -> mouse?

It is platform dependant; for example, the netra only has a com(4) chip,
one port is the console and the other is "ttyb". So you could rename
them on your machine, but MAKEDEV(8) does not take the platform into
consideration.

Shouldn't this bug be closed now?
Even though it's a bad thing that root can mangle with the keyboard and
mouse devices, only root can do it by default; not much more can be done
about it...

We should prevent the internally used ports to be opened from userland.
