but, deletion of /dev/crypto works sshd correctly.
delete hifn device from kernel config file, IPsec works well.

blowfish is not accelareted by hifn7955.

This is the same problem I saw on i386 and reported to jonathan out of band.  I believe he's looking into it as time permits -- I can take the PR back or
reassign it elsewhere if he prefers.

The problem is reproducible on i386 as well.  I can test changes (though I
have had no luck figuring out what's wrong, even though I am pretty
familiar with the hifn driver.  sigh.)

 This ticket is about 5 years old and there was never any movement on it.

 Are your problems resolved in the netbsd-4 branch and/or -current?

 Is it possible that your problems with /dev/crypto and sshd(8) were 
 related to "rnd" not being set as a valid rndctl(8) source?

    There was a discussion about this on tech-userlevel@ recently.
