>Description:
NetBSD 2.0_BETA hangs directly after probing the disk with
the disk activity light solidly on. Machine is a Shuttle
SS56G v1, with the latest BIOS (FS56S01Q).
Disabling 'Ultra-DMA' in the BIOS allows the machine to boot
using PIO. The same disk and cable works in a somewhat similar
Shuttle machine (SS51G) with a SIS 96X UDMA6651 IDE controller.
The dmesg's are from an ACPI enabled kernel. GENERIC gives the
same symptoms.
Tail end of hanging dmesg:
[[disk activitly light on solid]]
wd0: drive supports PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 5 (Ultra/100)
wd0(siside0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2 (using DMA data transfers)
siside0:0:0: lost interrupt
type: ata tc_bcount: 512 tc_skip:0
siside0:0:0: bus-master DMA error: missing interrupt, status=0x21
dmesg from affected machine with Ultra-DMA disabled in the BIOS.

some sis chips seem to be unable to do 512-bytes dma transfers.
disabling dma operations for 512-bytes transfers (like adding a quirk)
should help.
