 Would you show us the auich part of dmesg?  I guess its codec
 has no VRA not like:
 	auich0: ac97: ext id XXX<AC97_23,SPDIF,VRA>

 If it is right, please test a latest kernel of netbsd-3 branch,
 netbsd-4, or -current, not netbsd-3-0.

 Anyway, NetBSD 3.0.x won't have any fixes for such non-critical
 problems.

It has been some time 11 years and feedback has not been provided.  Audio has had
more changes during this time.  Closing.  I beleive this is fixed.
