I know this to be a bit late, but..

I have to report failure.. I've got an HP Pavilion
ze4500 Laptop with an AMD Atholon XP2500+ processor.

Under previous versions of the PowerNow support, it
would report being a PowerNow processor, but provide garbage
speed values.

Under the current PowerNow support, it reports as
having TS, FID, and VID, but doesn't offer up the PowerNow speed
control support.

The system has some sort of processor speed control
under WindowsXP (but it's not booted to that right now.)

Any ideas what might need to be tweaked? I'm more than
happy to build and test kernels on the system.

Can you please rebuild your kernel with "options POWERNOW_DEBUG"?

	Done. No additional output.. :(

I've included the output from a 3.99.17 kernel (just the
CPU portion), followed by the full dmesg of the 4.0_BETA kernel.

Really strange... can you do ident /netbsd|grep powernow?

You could try with the LKM module but before you need to remove the
POWERNOW options from your kernel.

And don't forget to uncomment CPPFLAGS+= -DPOWERNOW_DEBUG
in src/sys/lkm/arch/i386/powernow/Makefile.

To build the module:

$ cd src/sys/lkm/arch/i386/powernow && make USETOOLS=no

Please report it so that we could fix it before 4.0 is out.

	Ok.. PR coming this evening.

Hi

Can you try: http://www.xtrarom.org/~juan/netbsd.gz

This kernel has POWERNOW_DEBUG and reported debug
values in amd64 and amd64 in 32-bit mode with POWERNOW_K8.

Maybe there's something in POWERNOW_K7...

Thanks.

Done.. No change that I could notice..

- - This kernel has POWERNOW_DEBUG and reported debug
- - values in amd64 and amd64 in 32-bit mode with POWERNOW_K8.
- -
- - Maybe there's something in POWERNOW_K7...

Its looking like that.. From my 10000 ft view, it's as
if the PowerNow attachment points aren't getting called.

Is there anything else you'd like me to poke or prod at?

	Here's the dmesg:
