re-installed current, tested sysctl -w machdep.sleep_state=3
machine suspends to RAM fine. Except. during S3 state, backlight is on.
I have a sleep script which does wsconscfg -g/-s sequences to restore the correct binding. maybe this tickles the problem, but I don't think so since it completes before the sysctl call.
I used to call radeontool to force the light off, but I wanted to let you know it doesn't get turned off by the current kernel S3 transition on this platform
