When using modular xorg and xf86-video-mga, upon starting X the kernel says:

There are several reasons why this may be happening. I've noticed in
the GIT history entries such as "this will break MGA support", etc.
However, it also may have something to do with drm_ioremap(), for
which there are likely many situations where it doesn't get things
right.
I will look into this soon and see if I have any insights. Thanks for the PR.

Hello,
I've looked through the driver code; there have been few changes for
the past 2+ years. If you could provide your X.org log
and full drm debugging output (sysctl -w hw.dri.debug=1), I'll look
into this further. I suspect even more now that this problem has
to do with our drm_ioremap() function providing incorrect
information--though I'll contact some developers upstream
to see if they have any insights as well.
Also, if you could send the pcictl(8) dump output for your device and
AGP host bridge (pchb(4) and friends), that would
help me as well. I appreciate your offering to lend the card. If I
cannot resolve this issue, we can make arrangements for that.

Oookay, this is going to be long. I am using
modular-xorg-server-1.4.0.90nb3 and xf86-video-mga-1.4.8; I haven't yet
spent the time to update to modular-xorg-server 1.4.2 but I can if you
think it will help. The kernel and userland on this machine are now at
4.99.72, not 4.99.63.

can you please re-test with a new kernel (-current, not 5.x) and new

I still have the G400 card but unfortunately I no longer have the machine
it went into, or easy access to anything else with an AGP slot. If the
posted fix works for other folks, it seems reasonable to commit it and
close this PR.
