I'm a developer for graphviz. I'm getting requests for graphviz on AIX and was hoping pkgsrc.org had one available, but I didn't find it. Is this because of some problem in the graphviz code that I need to fix?

Basically I'm trying to understand from your AIX experts what the issues are?

 Our graphviz is in graphics/graphviz.
 ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/current/pkgsrc/graphics/graphviz/README.html
But too old (2.16.1) because of no maintainer.

Unfortunately we have no responsible developers for AIX now.

 Hi,

maybe PR pkg/40180 helps out the problem with the old pkg.
Would be great if John Ellson could try the patch, too.

It compiles on AIX using PKG_OPTIONS.graphviz= -x11 -pangocairo -lua -tcl
 (IIRC).

 Best regards,
 Jens

 Jens,

Could you send (or resend) a copy of this patch please? I probably
 missed it, or lost it.

 Thanks.

 John

 Hi John,

The patch could be found in PR pkg/40180
 (http://www.netbsd.org/cgi-bin/query-pr-single.pl?number=40180). I didn't
attach it to the follow-up of pkg/39788.

Jens, thanks, but I really don't know what to do with this patch? It
seems to be largely diffs of generated files between two releases,
or NetBSD packaging changes to files that don't come from upstream?

 e.g,

 	-DISTNAME= graphviz-2.16.1
 	-PKGREVISION= 4
 	+DISTNAME= graphviz-2.20.3

Is there any chance you could produce a diff between upstream CVS
sources and your latest patched code, just for those changes that we
 should be taking back?
e.g. changes to configure.ac or Makefile.am, but not those to config.h,
or Makefile.in or Makefile, or to any of those NetBSDs packaging or
 patches/* files?

I see some changes to configure.ac, but AFAICT these are our upstream
changes between 2.16 and 2.20? I can't tell if there is something new
 in there.

 Thanks

 John

 hi,
that patch was committed years ago; if you would like to find the
patches pkgsrc is currently carrying against graphviz upstream, see
    http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/pkgsrc/graphics/graphviz/patches/?only_with_tag=MAIN

and I think all of those are at least semi-upstreamable except the
patch to configure; unfortunately that does appear to include changes
that aren't reflected in the configure.ac patch, like the
 GUILE_VERSION one.

however this is all many versions on so it may not be of any further
interest. Let me know if I should just close this PR.

(we are not any better equipped for AIX than we were then, either, as
far as I know -- people who use it appear occasionally but that's
 about it.)
