>Description:
Early during boot, the console display goes blank (monitor reports no signal) and stays blank. The machine seems to keep booting normally and if its network settings have been set up it's eventually reachable over the network, and is functional other than the lack of video. (However, this bug would make it pretty hard to install 5.0_RC2 on a machine that didn't already have NetBSD on it.)

I think this is the same problem described by Urban Boquist in http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-macppc/2008/11/27/msg000475.html and by Krister Walfridsson in http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-macppc/2008/03/22/msg000076.html , but I couldn't find an existing PR for it.

XFree86 still works, so the problem seems to be confined to the console radeonfb.

dmesg output follows. The last message I can read before the screen goes blank is the second "using static EDID" line.

>How-To-Repeat:
Boot a PPC Mac Mini using the NetBSD 5.0_RC2 kernel.
>Fix:
Urban Boquist reports that compiling a kernel without radeonfb (so that it falls back on the genfb driver) works around the problem; I haven't tried that yet.

I submitted a patch to releng to disable radeonfb since it causes
 trouble on too many machines.

Just a note that this still happens with NetBSD 6.99.8 (and obviously
6.0_BETA2). It's incredibly annoying, particularly because genfb is
slow and uses such a low resolution that it does not even yield a
80x25 terminal. From what I gathered from macallan@'s comments
"recently", this should be quite easy to fix though, but I couldn't
figure it out after a decent amount of blind tinkering...

 Hello,
This still happens in NetBSD-HEAD when a display is connected via DVI,
display works fine if monitor connected via analogue VGA (DB15) using
 the VGA-DVI adapter.
