The fix looks good to me, but I'd prefer someone used to Solaris to validate it.

 I think the generic fix is to add:
   USE_LANGUAGES+=       c99
 to the Makefile, which triggers lines in pkgsrc/mk/compiler/*.mk to
 add appropriate flags for various compilers to do c99.

 Does that work here?
