 pkgsrc or native X?

I noticed a while ago that font rendering in pysolfc (which, however,
uses tk and doesn't go near pango) went to crap after an update to one
of the core X font libraries. If there's a problem at that level it
could bite pango too. But I haven't got around to tracking it down. :-/

Then it's probably not the same issue I apparently have. Not that this
 is a big surprise.

Is this still happening? The problem I had (which might or might not have
been related) went away eventually.
