>Organization:

>Environment:
Intel DG965WH main board . Installation is NOT possible , therefore , there is NO "uname -a" . Memory : 6 GB . HDD : SATA 250 GB . Processor : Intel E2220 .
>Description:
The Intel DG965WH main board has , in its BIOS , settings for hard disks only RAID mode or IDE mode .
In IDE mode , SATA disks are NOT detected . They are detected in RAID mode .
When NetBSD is attempted to be installed , it is detecting the hard disk correctly , but during install , after destroying boot sector and possibly partition tables , etc. , it is given an error about failure and abandoning the install leaving a non-bootable hard disk because previous operating system is overwritten without any useful part from NetBSD .

This behavior is ONLY performed by the NetBSD . OpenBSD , decided NOT to install on RAID mode without considering number of disks ( when there is ONE disk , there is NO RAID ) .

The other operating systems ( from Windows 7 to any Linux , FreeBSD , etc. ) are installing fine on that configuration .

>How-To-Repeat:

It may be tested in a similar mainboard , or perhaps a RAID card with single disk .

>Fix:

Other operating systems are successfully installing on such a main board ( RAID mode , single disk ) . I did NOT test RAID mode , multiple disks , and I did NOT make such an install .

The NetBSD 5.1.2 amd64 is given the same error messages on the same
 computer .
I think , previous releases also have the same problem , but I do not
remember which one started the problem .

This means , the problem is NOT specific to 6.0 BETA amd64 .

I did NOT try any i386 release .

 Tank you very much .

Could you get it into that state again and when the error is displayed
use Ctrl-Z to suspend the installer, then try the following commands
and mail us their output (the last few lines, starting with a:, of the first
 are good enough)?

   disklabel wd0
   mount

 Thanks

 Martin
