 I've used wpa_supplicant on MIPS n32 which uses netbsd32 compat
 exclusively -- it's possible something else went wrong or that
 it was fixed in the meantime.

quite a lot's been fixed in COMPAT_NETBSD32-land since 2012.
apb, are you (or is anyone else) in a position to test this? if not I'm
inclined to close it.
