>Description:
I have a laptop ASUS N73SV, with Intel Sandy Bridge CPU. I want to install NetBSD on it. I tried NetBSD 5.2, NetBSD 6.0, and several -current versions, but none of the installation CDs were able to boot. After kernel loading finished, my laptop just reboot immediately, without ddb output, so I am nor able to take a photo or offer any error message. I even tried boot kernel with -12s, the same thing happened again.

Here is my detailed hardware environment below:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz
Chipset: Intel HM65
Audio: Realtek ALC269
Graphics card: Intel HD 3000 + Nvidia GT540M
HDD: Seagate ST9750420AS (698 GB)
LAN: Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (alc)
WLAN: Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adapter (athn)

And below is the dmesg from OpenBSD 5.2:

   | I suppose this problem only appears on ASUS N73SV,

Have you tried a recent NetBSD current? I had a similar problem
with a new ASUS laptop (G55V) and it turned out top be that it needed
more kmem descriptors than NetBSD was allowing, and so it was
panic'ing very early in the boot process (way before it even got to
print the copyright - ocasionally I'd see the message flash by, but
most times the processor reset and started the reboot too quickly to
 see anything).

The magic number was increased, and that allowed NetBSD to boot for me
(still other issues with missing drivers and perhaps UEFI bios are
still preventing me using it native, but at least the problem that looked
serious turned out to be trivial.)

State-Changed-Why:
If you still have this hardware and still care about this problem, please
try the 7.0 release candidate (or the 7.0 release if it appears before you
get to it) as with luck the problem's fixed there.

If you don't, let us/me know and I'll close the ticket.
