System: NetBSD 6.99.16 NetBSD 6.99.16 (XEN3_DOM0) #0: Tue Jan 15 19:11:00 UTC 2013 builds@b6.netbsd.org:/home/builds/ab/HEAD/amd64/201301151650Z-obj/home/builds/ab/HEAD/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/XEN3_DOM amd64
Architecture: x86_64
Machine: amd64
Xen-version: pkgsrc/sysutils/xenkernel41 4.1.3-nb2
>Description:
Recent (after 2012.09.23) amd64 DOM0 kernel hangs up at boot.
The kernel boots normally till registering timecounter (as I
boot with -v) but stops there 60 to 120 sec. Then probes
	atapibus and hangs up finally.
This happens every time I boot dom0 on Xen.
This happens on recent (after 2012.11.23) netbsd-6 amd64 dom0 kernel
	too.

Curiously I saw this problem only on the PCs that have AMD cpu.
One pc has Athlon 4850e on RS780UVD-AM2+(128) and another has E-350
on GA-E350N-USB3, but I cannot reproduce this problem on intel cpu
(tested on celeron E3200 on GA-EG31MF-S2 and Atom on G945GCLF).

This problem can be hidden by reverting the commit
	http://mail-index.netbsd.org/source-changes/2012/09/23/msg037435.html

	Here is the console log:
(only 4850e board, E-350 board has no serial ports.)

Do you see this with the GENERIC kernel too ?

NVM, this is serial port intr (irq 4). Sorry for noise.

 No.
GENERIC amd64 kernel (201301211830Z) boots quickly.
 (Confirmed on Athlon 4850e pc)
But I noticed "vmstat -i" reports unknown interrupts not shown
 in dmesg.
The userland binaries and libraries for amd64 partition are built
on Jan 16 2013. I am not sure vmstat lies.

Subject: Re: port-xen/47499: recent amd64 DOM0 kernel hangs at boot
Date: Mon, 25 Mar 2013 20:35:32 +0900

 Hi,

 I applied chuq's patch
 http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/chs/diff.acpi-sci.4
to 201303021320Z tree and built kernel with MPDEBUG and MPVERBOSE.
 That works fine.

I updated Xen kernel to 4.1.4nb1 but it did not give significant
 changes.

I attach the differences between boot logs from old and patched
kernel and whole of boot log from fixed kernel.

 Thank you very much.

I encountered the same problem and filed a duplicate PR: 47594. I
applied the patch mentioned earlier against current at -D
2012.09.23.00.33.00 and it fixed the problem, yay!

 Thanks
