NetBSD 6.1 try running on K8N4-E from USB stick.
If i choose [1] - first boot menu param. my BSD stop work at
auic0 at pci0 dev4 function 0: nforce4 ac-97 audio
- system just stop work on this line
If i choose [2] - second boot menu param. my BSD stop work at
viaide2:0:0: lost interrupt
type ata tc_bcount: (here some random from 0 to 1536) tc_skip: 0
and while...
If i choose [3] (install NetBSD (no ACPI, no SMP)
then system boot normaly and we can see menu-install-tool.
and finaly, when system installation end and reboot we see [1] nforce4ac...

If you interrupt the boot loader, you can boot without ACPI and SMP
there too.
Also:
- can you clarify what a K8N4-E is? (an ASUS motherboard model?)
- are you using a 32-bit ("i386") or 64-bit ("amd64") installation?
